Welcome to NW Víla Fest!
NW Víla Fest
April 4-6, 2025
Shoreline Community College Theater
Mission Statement: At NW Víla Fest, our mission is to nurture and expand Seattle’s Bellydance community by fostering cultural appreciation and inclusivity. We are dedicated to celebrating the rich heritage of Bellydance through diverse performances, workshops, and community engagement. Our festival aims to provide a welcoming platform for dancers of all levels to share their passion, learn from one another, and connect with a broader audience. By honoring the traditions and evolving expressions of Bellydance, we strive to create a vibrant, supportive, and culturally enriched community.
At NW Víla Fest, we do not support or tolerate racism, sexism, fat-phobia, homophobia, or any forms of oppression. This event aims to create a space that celebrates and welcomes diversity.
NW Víla Fest is hosted by Pisces Productions, which is owned and operated by Shelby O’Neil, a fusion Bellydancer and Balkan Folk dancer. Part of Shelby’s heritage is Croatian and Víla means “fairy” in most Slavic languages, so the name of the festival pays a little homage to my Croatian heritage and my love of folklore. Pronounced: vEE-la.

Acknowledgement for Indigenous lands…
We acknowledge we are holding this festival on stolen ancestral lands of the Coast Salish people, specifically the Duwamish, Suquamish, Stillaguamish, and Muckleshoot tribes. We make this acknowledgement to remind ourselves that by being here today we strive to remedy this injustice through our beliefs and actions. Land acknowledgement is the first step in opposing the systematic oppression and historic erasure of Native people and Native Land ownership. Please join me in a moment to consider the legacies of violence, displacement, migration and settlement that bring us together today.
