Baksana's 9 hr Intensive: Friday/Saturday/Sunday, 9am-12pm
Baksana Dance Vocabulary Training 9 hr Intensive!
ALL LEVELS
Baksana Dance Vocabulary Training is a collection of cued dance and cymbal phrases performed in an improvised order. The style of the combinations is rooted in Egyptian Raqs Sharqi and Turkish Oryental, with a lean into folkloric elements. In this training students will embark on the journey to learn 4 of the main Home Positions, each with their unique finger cymbal pattern. Cymbals will be taught by ear and with Baksana Finger Cymbal Notation that stems from classical sheet music. The patterns include a variety of dynamic sounds and rhythms. This is a well rounded, deep dive into playing cymbals and dancing confidently - with an exciting dash of improvisation! Students who have attended the whole intensive will be invited to perform with Baksana during the festival showcase. All levels are welcome in this workshop!
Note: This coursework will count towards our extensive online training program that aims at certifying dancers to perform this vocabulary professionally. We hope you'll join us for the unique experience of learning these building blocks in person!
